Artist statement
Olgierd Nitka aka Aktin Dreiglo is a visual artist, designer, and architect. Born in Poland in the 1980s, he practiced arts in Berlin before moving to Hong Kong in 2007 where he established his own studio.
Throughout his work, Olgierd explores the boundaries between abstract and figurative painting by combining various forms of media - from painting and photography to collage, stencilling, and stamping. His aesthetic method utilises line sketching, as well as abstract patterns, drippings, and splashes of colour. The work that results from this plurality of techniques is whimsical and
unexpected, yet infused with art historical references.
Olgierd’s work expresses a desire to make sense of the world and the times we live in. He addresses socio-political and ecological questions, such as achieving a more balanced and sustainable lifestyle, as well as philosophical inquiries into the nature of finitude and the folly of human endeavour.
