Artist statement
Yung Chung Kong (b. 2000, Hong Kong) holds a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art from RMIT University, in partnership with Hong Kong Art School, specializing in painting.
Yung’s paintings often depict fictional cityscapes intertwined with wilderness, striking a delicate balance between urban structures and untamed nature. Scattered, deserted objects evoke an unsettling stillness, enriching the tranquil atmosphere with layers of meaning. A subtle sense of nostalgia permeates the works, inviting viewers to reflect on time and blurring the boundaries between past and present.
Solitude, a recurring theme in Yung's work, transcends isolation to evoke quiet hope and boundless possibility. Through the delicate tension between emotion and detachment, Yung’s paintings become a silent yet profound form of expression, conveying what words cannot articulate.
