Artist Statement:
"Light-light" combines a practical device (bug zapper) with symbolic forms of commemoration, creating a self-sustaining ritualized landscape. The work juxtaposes individual life's destruction with commemoration, exposing inherent contradictions in the progression of civilization, and reflecting on the coexistence of violence and lofty symbols within social mechanisms. It invites viewers to examine how culture and institutions rationalize negative behavior, questioning whether this rationalization conceals deeper absurdities and disorder.
