Artwork Statement
This series originates from a museum project I participated in with my daughter: beneath a large shopping mall in Guangzhou (housing hundreds of claw machine arcades) lies a wooden water gate structure from the Western Han Dynasty over 2,000 years ago, along with archaeological cultural layers spanning multiple dynasties from Han to Song. I utilized two images of the Han Dynasty wooden water gate, combining freehand ink wash painting with clay sculptures created by my seven-year-old daughter in her daily practice, attempting to portray the fascinating landscape where the ancient water gate ruins, the multiple dynastic cultural layers above it, and the modern consumer atmosphere of the shopping mall coexist.
