The edge of time is the present moment. I have deeply contemplated the space between life and death, and I find myself oddly more inclined to anticipate the latter. Having experienced trauma, depression, apathy, and internal struggles, I confront my expectation of death through the creative process, attempting to document this contradictory emotion in my work. The shapes and cracks of my creations symbolise repressed feelings and unhealed wounds, reflecting my inner world as I face these struggles.

In the act of creation, my hands are intimately connected to the texture of the clay. This tactile experience enables me to materialise the pain and turmoil within. It is not merely an artistic expression; it is a form of self-healing.

In a society that prioritises efficiency, the biases and misunderstandings towards those contemplating self-harm often prevent a genuine understanding of the pain experienced by individuals. Through my work, I hope to allow the audience to more viscerally feel the unspoken emotions of those who linger on the edge, emotions frequently rejected and struggled against within themselves, beyond external factors.

Artist Statement

My work primarily uses clay as a medium for self-exploration, relating to memory, circumstances, and inner emotions. As this inward journey continuously surfaces in my mind, intertwining and entangling, it crystallizes into complexities and struggles—perhaps an essential phase of growth. Through the process of manipulating the material, I release these cries. I aim to manifest the abstract and ineffable through ceramic creation. This is my expression of experience.
