Amber is inspired by my daily duties in the laboratory. The stark contrast between myself as an artist and researcher in a laboratory prompts my contemplation of art and science. I then began to explore the microscope in my workplace. I intended to transcend its traditional use and employ it as a camera lens to observe the microscopic realm of my shattered smartphone. An enigmatic substance—amber-hued and bubble-like, densely clustered along the edges was revealed under the microscope, it showed neither water droplets nor bubbles, as if an unknown element inhabiting above the broken screen.

The piece experiments the microscope as a lens-based tool, extend its professional use on art practices, also reflects the differences and possibilities between art and science. When science points to precise while art creation remains open-ended, are they both manifested in the work and showcasing resonance and coexistence.
