Artist Statement

航程球是一種擁有預測風暴能力的特殊植物。它生長在有年資的船隻底部，與船家形成了深厚的連結。這個植物的外觀類似小地球的形狀，頂部有一個特殊的口，用來收集水中的資訊。在植物的內部，它長有小蕊。
當船員拿起Voyage Orb並對其吹氣時，它會產生特殊的聲音。透過這些聲音，船員能夠判斷是否有風暴即將到來，並做好應對強風和劇烈天氣的準備。這種植物成為船員的好伙伴，提供了寶貴的預警系統，幫助船隻航行在變幻莫測的海洋中。

In the heart of the seasoned ship it grows,
A companion to the sailors who truly knows.
Voyage Orb, a sphere like a world so small,
Collecting whispers of storms, heeding the call.

Its surface adorned with secrets untold,
A portal to the waters, a tale to unfold.
With a gentle breath, the sailors blow,
Revealing the tempests that soon will show.

Guiding the ship through wind and gale,
Voyage Orb, the seafarer's trusty trail.
With each whispered sound, a warning is sent,
Preparing them for the turbulent descent.

Fong Wing Lam (b. 1998) is a Hong Kong-born artist who completed her Higher Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree in Ceramics at the Hong Kong Academy of Arts and RMIT in 2018 and 2021. Lam's artistic focus lies in creating ceramic sculptures that bring new species to life and explore the intricacies of existence. Her work showcases her imaginative spirit and reflects her fascination with the detailed aspects of life, aiming to build a unique database and materialize these concepts for the audience.
Her sculptures are crafted using a variety of existing objects, which are moulded into clay and then reassembled into diverse shapes. This technique not only demonstrates the diversity of materials but also highlights her meticulous attention to detail.
Lam's artworks invite viewers into a world of wonder and curiosity, captivating and inspiring through her fantastical creations. With skillful craftsmanship and a creative vision, she strives to make a lasting impact on the art world.
