Artist Statement

戴纖蘄(1997年出生於中國貴州貴陽）的創作主要以中國傳統書法及混合媒介呈現。她的作品內容多記錄日常生活中的場景化經歷，並以適應環境需求的語言文字展示。圍繞傳統書法技法，她以審美造型強調內容，探索傳統書法在當代社會存在的可能性。對於戴纖蘄來說，持續書法趣意的堅定探索，是她個人對長遠安寧與不定向幻想冒險的雙重試探，也是她在不同階段面對不同程度刻板印象解讀的嘗試回擊。

戴纖蘄2019年及2020年先後在香港浸會大學完成了視覺藝術學士（榮譽）學位和視覺藝術碩士（優秀）學位。此外，她於 2021 年在蘇黎世藝術大學獲得了第二個關於藝術跨學科研究的碩士學位。

她目前生活和工作於中國香港。

Dai Xianqi (born in 1997 in Guiyang, Guizhou, China) primarily presents her work through traditional Chinese calligraphy and mixed media. Her works often document scenographic experiences from daily life and showcase them using language and text that adapt to environmental demands. Centered around traditional calligraphy techniques, she emphasizes content through aesthetic forms, exploring the potential existence of traditional calligraphy in contemporary society. For Dai, her enduring exploration of the meaningful aspects of calligraphy serves as a dual probe into her personal quest for long-term tranquility and her adventurous pursuit of uncertain fantasies, as well as an attempt to counter various degrees of stereotypes she encounters at different stages of her life.

Dai Xianqi completed her Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honors) degree and Master of Visual Arts (Merit) degree at Hong Kong Baptist University in 2019 and 2020, respectively. Additionally, she obtained a second Master’s degree in Art Transdisciplinary Studies from Zurich University of the Arts in 2021.

She currently lives and works in Hong Kong, China.
