Artist statement:
My works’ motif is shadow.
A shadow stretches and twists around a corner.
I apply this visual feature to my brushwork on wheel-thrown ceramic cylinders, which give multiple images when viewpoint shifts.
At a point, when the paintings on the top and the wall connect in a straight line, a complete image appears with a visual illusion effect.
The process of creating images with variety of visual illusion effect keeps me exploring alternative pathways to read the material visually and mentally that never was.
Artwork ONE represents a blue cylinder inside the ceramic cylinder. The space in between looks like semi-transparent but it is solid.
Artwork TWO represents 3 rectangular straps. The straps' bottom looks like a straight line but it is an curve on the wall.
