Artwork Statement 作品簡介 

Subterranean is a work based on Yeung’s reverence for resilience as the core of her femininity, rejecting the patriarchal idea that equates femininity and weakness, so as fantasy and irrationals. Narrating the fantasy creatures, Reminisions, who are named after the word “reminiscences”, Yeung tells a story about how the Reminisions excelled themselves to reconstruct a new home under the ground after losing their place on the surface to their predators. Deemed inferior and secondary in their world, resilience is the strength that keeps hope alive. 

《Subterranean》是以楊對「韌性」的崇敬為核心的作品，這份韌性正是她女性氣質的精髓，拒絕父權將女性等同於軟弱、幻想與非理性的偏見。作品透過一群名為「Reminisions」（取自「reminiscences」(回憶)）的奇幻生物，講述牠們在地表家園遭掠食者奪取後，憑藉卓越的韌性於地底重建新家園的故事。在被視為低等與次要的世界裡，韌性成為維繫希望的真正力量。 

About Artist 關於藝術家 

Yeung’s practice centers on fantasy, character design, and world-building. As a recent RMIT Fine Arts graduate (painting major), she views the world empathetically from a third-person perspective. For her, fantasy reflects reality rather than escapes it. She channels observations into fantasy to question, challenge, and reconstruct rationales through symbolism and open-ended narratives—bridging reality with defamiliarized imaginary worlds. 

楊的藝術實踐聚焦奇幻、角色設計與世界建構。作為皇家墨爾本理工大學美術系新畢業生，她以第三人稱視角觀察世界，將現實轉化為奇幻。透過象徵與敘事，質疑並重構理性邏輯，連結現實與陌生想像，創造引人深思的辯證張力。
